Skretting laid the foundation stone for its new Aquaculture Research Center

Skretting Ecuador, a multinational company dedicated to the production of balanced feed for the aquaculture sector, laid the first stone of its new Aquaculture Research Center, which is being built next to its plant at kilometer 4.5 of the Duran-Tambo road with an investment of $ 6.1 million.

Present at the event were the Minister of Production, Foreign Trade, Investments and Fisheries, Iván Ontaneda; Carlos Miranda, general manager of Skretting Latam; and other executives of the company, which has production plants in 19 countries and manufactures and delivers food from hatching to harvest for more than 60 species, with a total annual production volume of more than 2 million tons.

Meanwhile, the new facility, called Skretting ARC (Skretting Aquaculture Research Center network) Guayas Research Station, will be centrally coordinated by Skretting ARC in Norway, its central office, and will comprise state-of-the-art equipped laboratories and experimental units. for conducting trials under controlled conditions, described by Alex Obach, Director of Development and Innovation (R&D) at Skretting.

“We are committed to supporting the growth of the shrimp industry internationally. We also know the importance of optimal diets, combined with high quality postlarvae and professional aquaculture practices. Developing solutions requires world-class R&D facilities, combined with experience, ”Obach said.

Skretting ARC currently has research facilities in Norway, Italy, Japan, Chile and China, and additional validation facilities around the world, with shrimp research experts, a team of 140 specialists and an annual investment in development and innovation of $ 18 million.

"Over the years, our scientists, along with our extensive research network, have contributed to the launch of important feed solutions for all stages of shrimp life," said Obach, adding that the new research center will offer new solutions to improve shrimp performance: faster growth, shorter production cycles and higher survival rates.
